Visiting the Zoo with baby: 3 Tips

We recently went on a road trip to Chicago to visit family and we decided to take Mason and his cousins to the Brookfield Zoo. Going to the Zoo for the first time with your little one can be very exciting! But you may also be wondering, what do I need to bring with me?

Depending on the size of the Zoo, most visits can take about 3-5 hours. It can get very hot in a short amount of time because there isn't a lot of shade at Zoos. Babies that are under 6 months old can't use sunscreen, so make sure to bring a hat!

You'll be doing A LOT of walking. I suggest bringing a carrier as well as a stroller. Depending on the Zoo, certain areas don't allow strollers, or may not be equipped for the amount of space a stroller can take up, so a carrier will come in very handy in these situations!

Last but not least, bring a portable fan. It'll help keep baby cool in the heat. Even on a day where the temperature feels nice, being in direct heat can make it feel much warmer. And babies cannot adapt to heat the way adults can, so it's very important to keep baby cool!

I hope these tips help you to have a fun trip to the Zoo or any outdoor event with your little one! Thanks so much for reading!
